Local and International

Ministries We Support Financially:
  • Aidchild: supports AIDS orphanages in Uganda.
  • Alliance of Renewal Churches: the network to which WMC belongs.
  • BridgeBuilders International: supports valley-wide prayer and intercession.
  • Frontiers: planting churches and leading Christian movements among Muslim Communities.
  • Just One: each adult and child giving just one dollar weekly to meet the practical needs of the poor in our community.
  • Open Arms: food and clothing outreach to the poor in Gilbert.
  • Third Floor Ministries: Joel & Marissa Bidderman minister with Apache Youth Ministries, serving teens on the Fort Apache Reservation in the White Mountains.
Ministry Projects:
  • Christmas Angel Tree Project: each Christmas we adopt and provide gifts to several poor families in our community.
  • Mercy Meals Ministry: this ministry helps families during difficult or unexpected circumstances, such as a surgery, a death in the family, or arrival of a new baby. Families who receive this ministry are provided with three meals. We learn of special diets, favorites, or allergies, and then coordinate meal delivery with others.
  • Patterson Elementary School: to show our appreciation for the teachers and staff at the elementary school next door, we take trays of treats at the beginning of the school year.
Outreach:
  • Neighborhood Outreach: going out to meet our neighbors, seeking to pray for and serve them in practical ways.
  • Open Arms: we staff Open Arms every Saturday morning from 9 to 11 am. We will have church-wide drives throughout the year as specific needs arise.
  • Street Ministry: developing relationships with the poor and broken. During these morning outreach and fellowship times we offer water and breakfast bars to show love in a practical way. We also bring sleeping bags, socks, blankets, and other items when possible.

Amor Trips

God has given the leaders of Wonderful Mercy a vision for world missions. In conjunction with that, He has given many members of our church a heart to go to other countries and minister to those in need.

One of our short-term mission opportunities is our annual trip to Puerto Penasco, Mexico. Every February, we go as a church family to build homes in this poverty stricken area with Amor Ministries. Amor Ministries partners with churches in Mexico to provide housing for the needy by sending teams from the United States to construct houses. Receiving the love of Christ in this practical way, the families are then able to use their limited resources to improve their lives and the futures of their children.

When we go to Mexico, we keep this promise of God from Matthew 25:40 in front of us: “I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.”

Amor Ministries provides building materials and we provide the labor. The homes we build are very basic. We mix concrete and pour a foundation; we measure and cut wood for framing; build a roof of plywood, and rolled asphalt; give the walls substance with tarpaper, chicken wire, and stucco. The house has two windows and a door.

By providing this home for families who could not do this on their own, we give hope in a future here on earth as well as open doors for the Gospel message. In addition, it gives us an opportunity to build stronger relationships within our body. Hard work has a way of bringing people together as they strive for a single purpose: helping someone else by showing Christ's love in a real way.
