Our Purpose

Experiencing God.
In John’s gospel, Jesus identifies the goal of life not in terms of religious activities or worldly accomplishments, but as a personal knowing of God that shifts us the boundaries of our existence. This knowing is not merely mental—it is an encounter with the living God and an experience of Him that engages our entire being: physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual. It is the deepest desire of the human heart and very thing we were made for.

Loving Each Other.
When Jesus commands us to love each other, He’s not looking for an act of love, but an overflow emerging from God’s life of love in us. In other words, love isn’t something we do—it’s who we are. God wants nothing else except love because He Himself is love. As God in Jesus Christ gives Himself to us entirely, so we are to give ourselves entirely to our neighbors, embracing them with the love that flows like a fountain from God.

Serving the World.
God’s kingdom turns everything in our world upside down. We want to be served; Jesus came to serve others. We love to be first; Jesus said we’re to be last. We strive to be in charge; Jesus said greatness comes through servanthood. Serving the world—the poor, the lonely, the least, the lost—is possible only as we rely on the Holy Spirit’s empowering presence. At Wonderful Mercy we want to be known for generosity and compassion because this is the Father’s heart.
